Survey Party Chief Role:
The Survey Party Chief will help plan and manage offshore survey projects, ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, and enable progress towards project goals. This will require supervising survey teams, mobilising vessels, overseeing data acquisition and quality control, liaising with client representatives, ensuring minimal environmental impacts, and reporting results. Successful candidates will have experience and proficiencies in common acquisition and processing software, equipment testing and validations, and managing an offshore team by coordinating with marine crew and office staff. Salary is competitive.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team
- Ensure staff safety and wellbeing
- Ensure adherence to environmental protocols during survey operations
- Ensure proper working order of all survey equipment
- Maintain compliance with contractual requirements, project procedures and company QHSE policies/procedures to safely and effectively meet the scope of work
- Verify that the work meets the project specification and that safety, the environment and third parties are not compromised or threatened
- Identify and implement hazard identification and risk assessment control measures; ensure that risk measures are followed by company and third-party personnel
- Oversee quality control and offshore/offline data inspection and processing
- Complete reporting in accordance with company procedures and/or client specifications
- Manage mobilisation and demobilisation activities
- Review and understand project specifications and procedures for each survey operation
- Effectively liaise with Client, company management, marine crew and other contractors onboard to ensure effective communication of information and efficient performance of duties
- Liaise with client and maintain ship-to-shore communications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ offshore experience in a Senior survey-related position, preferable 5 years’ experience in a Party Chief role
- Demonstrable and effective personnel management skills
- Profficient with standard/common acquisition and processing software suites (QPS, SonarWiz, Edgetech, Innomar, kingdom, etc.)
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite
- High level of knowledge and understanding of current offshore survey techniques including pre-engineering survey, pre-lay survey, construction support, as-built survey, ROV survey operations
- Experience in the offshore wind energy industry would be beneficial.
